Assistant Finance Director

• Salary: Up to £70,000 plus annual performance related pay
• Location: The successful candidate will be based in Telford and will be required to travel to our academies across the West Midlands and Shropshire.

Thomas Telford Multi Academy Trust (TTMAT) is a high-performing and growing organisation, operating five academies in the West Midlands and Shropshire areas.  We are seeking to appoint a an Assistant Finance Director to support the current Finance Director in the TTMAT’s continued growth and success.

This is an exciting opportunity for a talented finance professional to work in a highly performing multi academy trust. You will report to the Finance Director and will be accountable to the Accounting Officer of TTMAT.  You will work closely with the Headteachers, Chairpersons and Local Governing Boards of each of the academies.

Key duties will include:

• preparation of monthly management accounts, balance sheet reconciliations, budget variance analysis and cash flow forecasts
• providing financial analysis and advice to each academy to support decision making
• attendance at board meetings to present management accounts and other financial reports
• management of the finance teams at each academy and centrally
• preparation of annual budgets
• monitoring and improvement of financial processes and controls

The successful candidate will:

• be a fully qualified chartered accountant (ACA, ACCA, CA), with relevant experience
• demonstrate strong communication skills and experience presenting complex financial information to varied stakeholders
• have the ability to manage staff and meet deadlines
• have strong IT and analytical skills, with the ability to process, analyse and present data
• have experience working in the educational sector is desirable but not essential
